In India I had been to plenty of places where I witnessed the cruel acts of racism but I hadn’t witnessed an action taken against them/it. As an Indian it makes me doubt my nationality and my Rights let alone the hurt inside. People who does not believe me can ask someone from a minority background or to be more specific people from north-eastern part of India.

There is a lot which happens in India when it comes to racism, for instance,  a north-east girl walking on a road will be teased and called by names(vulgar ones) while for another girl from another part of the country no one says anything. This is racism. We practice this everyday and when a similar thing happens to our people we go crazy about it as if we have never done such kind of thing in our live, in fact it is happening right in front of our doorstep, and we are turning a blind eye on it. Let’s take it a little bit further, if something bad happens like rape or eve-teasing etc. we blame it on their way of dressing and then we take it as if some stray dog just died and sometimes worst than this at least dogs have PETA to stand for them.

I  saw a fight once between people from north-east and delhites, the reason was this, from a car a group of delhites teased a girl who was walking along with her brother, not only once, they pulled the car back and repeated the same act more than two times, her brother could not stand it so he shouted back at them. On hearing him they rushed out of the car and bashed him up. But some people from north-east came and helped him and the fight intensified, the whole neighbourhood was awake, and some cops also came. They let the delhites go while 2 north-east guys were taken in, almost the whole neighbourhood shouted at them, they were even told to move out from their rented place the next day. No one bothers to ask what was the matter, or tried to find out which one of them was wrong but everyone blamed the north-easterners. If they didn’t know, can they not just keep quiet, instead of showing them that they are partial?  There are many other incidents of racism, this is just an example from a real event.

There is racism almost everywhere, but we turn our face away from it. So that we can ignore it because we think the victim will be of no use to us. But when the same thing happens to us we protest, we call for solidarity, integrity and so on. Let us keep asking this one question, which type of racism will be more painful, racism in your own motherland or racism in a foreign country? Are we doing anything to stop racism on our own neighbourhood or locality before we try to stop racism in another country? Would you like to be bullied or harassed inside your own house? This is what our fellow citizens have been suffering from – everyday. Let’s make this country a better for all of us.

Brazilian Air Force Colonel Jorge Amaral confirmed that search teams had recovered 2 male bodies and wreckage including a seat, briefcase, oxygen mask, laptop computer and a ticket stub issued to a passenger from the flight. He added that experts on human remains were traveling to the recovery site to examine the findings. The 228 people on board the aircraft are presumed dead.

Previously retrieved debris from the likely vicinity of the airplane’s disappearance was yesterday revealed to actually be trash from passing ships. A wooden cargo pallet and two buoys had been recovered, but are now believed to have been from a ship.

Air France flight 447, traveling from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, disappeared on June 1 over the Atlantic Ocean. The Airbus A330-200 was last heard via radio at 22:30 local time (01:30 UTC) on June 1 and vanished from radar approximately 190 miles (306 km) off the Brazilian coast.

The cause of the crash is not yet known. Earlier today it was revealed by French authorities that Flight 447′s plane sent 24 error messages shortly before it disappeared. They also said that the plane’s auto-pilot was not active, although they say that from the error messages it is impossible to determine the reason for it being inactive. The crash is said to be the world’s worst aviation disaster since 2001.
